Build a nest and raise chicks

Adults place a stick, rock, or dirt nest on dry ground, teleport home, incubate an egg, and carry food back to the chick.

Place the nest

You need to be an adult. Eggs and chicks do not build nests.

  1. Stand on dry, solid ground. Branches, roofs, tree hollows, and open terrain in Forest, Village, Desert, or Ice Mountain are used as nest spots. Deep water is rejected.
  2. Open Nest on the bottom bar.
  3. Pick a material. Documented choices include stick, rock, and dirt. Burrow and cavity placements are also described for suitable terrain.
  4. Confirm. The nest is labeled with your name. A house icon marks your own nest.

From the same menu you can Teleport back from anywhere, or Destroy the nest and place another. Custom nest color and texture need the Very Important Bird pass (300 Robux). Without it, the material keeps its default look.

A flock base is a different object. See the flock guide. It needs at least two members and is placed by the leader.

Raise an egg

  1. Open the nest menu and choose Raise an Egg or Offspring.
  2. Sit on the egg to incubate it. On PC, sit is action 2. You can also cosmetic-crack or shake the egg from the prompts.
  3. When it hatches, the chick can follow you.

Your own character does not grow by eating. The Grow button ages your bird whenever you choose. Food is for nest chicks and for roleplay.

Food to carry home

Pick up an edible item and drop it in the nest. Documented foods include worms from soil, berries, apples, acorns and pinecones in the Forest, fish, crabs and coconuts on the Beach, raw meat in the Village, snails and frogs in wet biomes, spiders in every biome except Ice Mountain, squirrels in Forest and Ice Mountain, and lizards in Desert and Jungle. Bats appear after dark.

Adults can carry a chick or egg in the beak, on the back, or in the talons. The option you get depends on the size difference.

Placement limits

The supported rule is dry solid ground, not deep water and not empty air. Players describe fence-gate and cliff-edge tricks that leave a nest floating. Treat those as unofficial placement quirks, not a nest type the menu sells. If a placement fails, move to open ground and try again.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you get Feathers in Feather Family?

Stay active in a server. The documented rate is 5 Feathers every 90 seconds, and the wallet stops at 10,000 until you spend some. Feathers are not sold for Robux.

Are there working Feather Family promo codes?

No public promo-code string was found on the experience page, in the developer Q&A, or in the collected code index. The Fossil Lab keypad is a different, per-server door code.

How do you fly?

On a flying species that is old enough, press Q on PC, tap the wing button on mobile, or press Y or Triangle on console. Press the same control again to land. Eggs and flightless species cannot take off.

What did the Burrowing Owl update add?

The experience page lists a Burrowing Owl skin, a Night Vision toggle for owls, nightjars, and Peryton, Halloween decorations in the Village, a chat-bubble icon for roleplay hosts who can chat, and remodeled adult heads for the Great Horned Owl and Barn Owl.

Is there an official Discord?

No. GoldenAviary has said official news stays on Roblox and that there is no official Discord. Join the Roblox group The Feather Family for the fan tag and group announcements.
