Your own bird
Feather Family does not age you with a hunger bar. You advance when you press the action.
- If you spawned as an egg, use Hatch. The egg shows a zigzag effect and a list of species you own. Pick one to become a hatchling and open colors.
- As a hatchling, open Actions and choose Grow. Confirm "Do you want to grow up?"
- Keep the baby colors or paint the adult. Default chick colors become the standard adult colors if you do not keep a custom palette.
- The bird flashes and becomes the next stage.
You can also spawn as a hatchling or an adult from the character menu and skip the earlier stage.
Eating berries, worms, fish, or meat does not fill a meter for your own growth. Food matters when you are feeding a nest chick.
Who can fly after growing
Most hatchlings stay on the ground. Full flight arrives with the adult form, and even then it follows the species rules on the flight page. Chickens and turkeys stay stamina-limited as adults. Ostriches never gain flight.
Short hatchling or fledgling flight is documented for Peryton fawns, Falcatakely, Confuciusornis, Feitianius, Microraptor, updated Archaeopteryx, and the December 2025 Phoenix and Cockatrice fledgling change. These bursts are not the adult move set.
Griffin and Phoenix
Griffin is the species that grows twice. Hatchling Grow becomes a fledgling with limited flight. A second Grow becomes the adult, with a larger display and no flight stamina limit. The pass is 600 Robux.
Only the adult Phoenix has Rebirth. The screen letterboxes, the bird burns through its display, and you return to a Phoenix egg so you can recolor and start again. Other species stay adult until you change morphs in the menu. The pass is 400 Robux.
Nest offspring are separate
A nest egg is not your player character. Sit on it (PC sit is 2), bring food, and wait for it to crack. You can name the offspring and carry the egg or chick. That chick growing up is a roleplay follow, not the same button as your own Grow action.
Altricial chicks beg when a parent approaches while holding food. That behavior was added in the March 20, 2026 notes.
