Two different servers
Private servers are created from the Roblox experience page at no Robux cost. They give you a personal server with ordinary private-server admin.
Listing a server on the in-game roleplay board, and using the full host command set, requires Very Important Bird (300 Robux). Hosts who can chat with you show a speech-bubble icon beside their name. That icon was added in the Burrowing Owl update.
The developer Q&A says community roleplay servers require an account at least 14 days old, to slow ban evasion. The experience page lists a server size of 60. The same Q&A separately mentions a 75-instance cap tied to data-store limits. Use 60 as the listed player cap unless the experience page changes.
Open the command list
In a server you host, type /cmds in chat, or use the command button on the top bar (added in the January 2026 interface work). Documented commands:

The host menu also kicks, teleports to a player, shuts the server down, and mutes VIB radios. Blocking someone on Roblox keeps them out of your VIB-hosted servers.
Aurora is hard to see in daylight. Set night with /settime 0 before /spawnweather Aurora. Flood raises water across the map. It was added to host commands in July 2026, matching the flood weather that month.
Theme controls
Hosts can limit which species may spawn, pick a default spawn biome, stop members from creating flocks, and hide VIB textures and auras for a realism server. Those toggles are menu settings, not secret chat codes.
Safety
A host never needs your Roblox password. Fan Discord servers are not run by the developer. Official news is the experience description and the Roblox group The Feather Family.
